Who doesn't want a new beginning with a beautiful home, great food, great views and the best friends life has to offer?Chili anyone?2019-11-12T08:56:31+00:002024-03-29T07:14:30+00:00Darci Bartletthttps://springlighthouse.com/blog/author/Darci/https://springlighthouse.com/blog/chili-anyone/
Nothing says cold weather like a chili cook off!

The light snow falling and the cold air are like a cleansing of the soul for me and I love the winter.

We have had the fireplaces roaring and the hot cocoa pouring for our recent guests. We are making the most of the cold weather.

So recently, when I was visiting Townline Ciderworks (our local hard cider maker), I noticed a sign-up sheet for their 3rd annual chili cook off.

Pencil in hand I signed up on the spot. Nov 16th from 5-7 pm you can come join us for a taste of winter and the best cider around!

Check our events page for all the details and I hope to see you there!!

It's late (I'm a night owl) and I am looking over reservations, booking sites, our webpage and whatever else piques my interest.

I can hear the water crashing on the rocks just outside the office windows. I don't know if I could ever get tired of hearing that sound. Knowing the power of the water and the sights and smells of Lake Michigan, I know I am home again (More on this in the next "A Day in the Life..." blog post).

With the doors open and our first guests having come and gone, we are ready for a few weekends of the whole house full of guests. And it looks like we are going to get our wish.

The fall colors are bringing in reservations and before we know it we will have the entire town of Elk Rapids roaming the neighborhood with adorable kids looking for a treat! (I'll be posting lots of pictures so stay tuned).

If you need a quiet place to stay, great food, fun folks to talk with and beauty of nature like no other place on earth then book a stay and come to The Spring Lighthouse B&B. You won't be disappointed.

The Road Less Traveled2019-09-27T00:56:12+00:002024-03-27T09:41:00+00:00Darci Bartletthttps://springlighthouse.com/blog/author/Darci/https://springlighthouse.com/blog/the-road-less-traveled/
Yes, I know it's such a cliche. But I happened to love Robert Frost and I love the country roads in Northern Michigan.

As the colors start to turn and the air begins to whisper of winter my mind starts to travel the beautiful drives that our area affords us.

M119 ~ The tunnel of trees. One of the most breathtaking drives in any season but decked out to the fullest in the fall.

M72 (between Traverse City and Kalkaska) ~ Another drive that never disappoints. Barker Creek area is especially beautiful with glimpses of Skegamog Lake.

M 22 ~ from Traverse City to Northport and back down again, this drive can easily take all day. Stop for great food and libations, wander thru eclectic shops and don't miss the little towns south of Lake Leelanau; Maple City, Cedar and Lake Ann to name a few.
